SELF
BUILD BULK PELLET HOPPER/SILO
The self
build silo is probably the most economical and flexible version available.
The silo is built around an floor auger/trough system that is both simple and
reliable.
The floor
troughs are available in 1.0m, 1.5m and 2.0m lengths, these can be combined
to give a maximum length of up to 5.0m long.
The floor
trough is laid out and fixed to the ground (diagram to the right shows 2
troughs being combined) and the drive motor and gear box is attached at one
end. The vacuum pipes from the boiler are then connected here and the motor
is powered by the boiler control board.
Once the
auger and motor have been assembled you can then build a box, wood or blocks
are fine, around it and slope the floor into the floor trough so that you
have a “V” shaped bottom to the silo (See diagram below).
