This is a large Dormer Bungalow with a sub-terranian basement that is used for housing the ETA HACK 50 wood chip boiler and fuel storage area.

The WF24 solar panels are on the South facing roof at the back of the house

The HACK 35 feeds from a block built fuel store and has a 3.5 meter diameter floor agitator with spring loaded scrapping arms.

The boiler heats a 1100 litre buffer tank where heating for the main house and the large work shop behind the house is taken from it.

The flow to the house and workshop from the buffer tank must first pass through an automated mixing valve that regulates the temperature of the water going to the heating circuits. This allows the house to operate under a weather compensating system thereby always operating under optimum conditions.

There is also a large multi-fuel stove with back boiler in the sitting room. According to building regulations such stoves must be operated with an open vented heating system. So to allow the heat from the stove back into the main pressurized system it pass through a 40kW heat exchanger (blue wall mounted unit) that allows the vented and unvented systems operate together.

The solar system uses a Resol Pro Controller that allows the 5 x WF24 Integrated flat plate panels to operate very efficiently.

The priority for the solar panels is to heat the 500L dual coil cylinder (shown opposite). However, if the dual coil cylinder reaches maximum temperature, or if it reaches maximum temperature that outdoor conditions will allow, then the controller will activate a 3-way motorized valve and divert the solar heat to the Buffer tank.

The solar heats the buffer tank through a 15kW heat exchanger, see brown wall mounted unit in picture above.
