Dwellings Energy Assessment Procedure (DEAP) Version 3 2008

The DEAP manual describes the Dwelling Energy Assessment Procedure (DEAP), which is the Irish official procedure for calculating and assessing the energy performance of dwellings. The National Administration System will only except xml's generated from DEAP version 3 2008. DEAP version 3 calculates the he energy performance of new and existing dwellings. The procedure takes account of the energy required for space heating, ventilation, water heating and lighting, less savings from energy generation technologies. For standardised occupancy, it calculates annual values of delivered energy consumption, primary energy consumption, carbon dioxide emissions and costs, both totals and per square metre of total floor area of the dwelling.

The Building Regulations (Amendment) Regulations 2007, (S.I. No. 854 of 2007) was published by the Minister for Environment, Heritage and Local Government in December 2007. 

The following requirements are included in the amended regulations:
• Minimum overall energy and CO2 performance standards
• Renewable energy contribution
• Air leakage testing
• Minimum efficiencies for oil or gas fired boilers

The Technical Guidance Document to accompany the revised Buildings Regulations Part L (TGD L, 2008 Edition) was published on the Department of the Environment, Heritage and Local Government’s website in January 2008. This document details how conformance to the amended regulation requirements can be demonstrated
